We run a very successful Charity Shop which is based on the premises of the Home. This shop is extremely well supported by the local community, both in terms of items being donated to sell, as well as people purchasing from the shop.
We pride ourselves on keeping our prices low enough to enable local entrepreneurs to purchase in bulk from us, and resell the items, thereby helping to alleviate poverty.
The Shop is run by a very capable Manager and a team of exceptionally dedicated volunteers, most of whom have been volunteering in the shop for more than 10 years. In this way we are able to keep the overhead costs extremely low, with more than 98% of funds raised going directly into the Home.
We accept donations of any items in a good condition. Unfortunately we do not have the manpower to repair electrical appliances, and so we are unable to accept them if they are not in working order. We are able to collect furniture items and large appliances in good working order.
If we are unable to sell a particular item, it is donated to our Sister homes in Soweto and Daveyton, or other non-profit organisations who can make use of them. We are very active on social media, and aware of any needs within the community, which we try to assist with.
Residents are also able to source items that they need from the shop.
The shop exists solely for the purpose of raising funds to keep the Ann Harding Cheshire Home running and providing a quality service to our Residents.
SHOP TRADING HOURS:
Monday to Friday: 9am to 3:30pm
Saturday: 9am to 1pm
Donations are gratefully accepted anytime, and if the shop is closed, the Security guard will assist.
Please donate responsibly.
