NOMADS

We were very fortunate to be chosen as the Charity of choice for Nomads Gauteng in 2019. Throughout the year they held various events and fundraisers, and presented us with a very generous cheque for R120 000. We used R70 000 of this money to install a new bell call system in the Home for […]

Christmas Day

Although some of our Residents do go out to family or friends on Christmas Day, many stay at the Home, and others have their family join them for lunch at the Home.  Our Catering Manager really goes out of her way to cook up a fantastic Christmas day meal, and to make it a very […]

Carols by Candlelight

Every year we hold a Carols by Candlelight for our Residents and their families and friends.  This event is led by the wonderful Garner Family who are a family of musicians.  One of the family members is even a scholar at the Drakensburg Boys Choir School.  This is always a special evening, and puts us […]

Pub Night

Our Residents run pub nights throughout the year, and the last one for 2019 took place on Saturday 30 November.  These are always well supported, and help the Residents committee to raise funds for Resident needs.

Volunteers Cheese and Wine

Where would we be without our Volunteers?  It is so heart-warming to see the dedication of these volunteers to the Home, and so difficult to adequately show our appreciation.  We held a lovely cheese and wine thank you event, and this was enjoyed by all who attended.

Randpark Ridge United Church Father Group Braai

Annually, the Fathers Group from the Randpark Ridge United Church hold a braai with entertainment for our Residents.  This event is also a favourite, and the Residents look forward to the delicious food and entertainment on offer.  A huge thank you to the Father’s Group for all your work in making this such a special […]

Donor Thank You Tea

Of course, the Home would not be the place that it is without our wonderful Donors, and although it is impossible to ever adequately thank them, we did hold a thank you tea this year. Each donor was given a miniature Spekboom plant, which we obtained from the Owl Rescue Centre, to illustrate how they […]

Honeydew Police Visit

Every year the Honeydew Police pay us a visit and bring gifts for the Residents. This is one of the most exciting visits for our Residents, and this year they were all ready and waiting outside when the SAPS arrived. Of course, this visit would not be complete without the sirens blaring, and I’m not […]

Sundowners Concerts

The Sundowners are a group of amateur musicians, who annually hold a series of tribute concerts to raise funds for Charities. We are very fortunate to be one of these beneficiary Charities. These shows are absolutely spectacular, and the commitment that goes into them from the cast and crew is astounding. Rehearsals start fairly early […]

World Disability Day

This day is celebrated on 2 December. This year, we held a number of activities to acknowledge the day, and Disability Month which runs from 2 November to 2 December. On Saturday 30 November, we ‘dressed up’ a bakkie as a float, and did a mini float parade, in conjunction with the Honeydew SAPS, to […]
